University applications may not be the most exhilarating thing to do, and may be even be a little bit nerve racking, however with a bit of extra knowledge you can have your applications polished and ready to shine!

Here are a few tips to help with your university or college applications.

Keep track of deadlines.

Make sure to keep track of important dates, such as application deadlines, for each program you're applying to. These differ from university to university and can mean the difference between you being admitted into your dream school (cross your fingers!) or not.

Brag about yourself.

Trust us, we want to hear all about you! Whether you've been coaching kids' soccer teams, taking part in your school's drama club, or working on some cool side projects in your spare time, make sure that we know about it.

Most schools have some way of allowing you to demonstrate your individuality so go to town and show what makes you, you! At Waterloo, we use the Admission Information Form.

Ask questions (lots of them).

Never underestimate the benefits of asking questions at any chance you have. Attending open houses, booking tours, or sending a quick email and taking the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have is incredibly helpful in making sure your application shines above the rest.

Students and staff that are enthusiastic about their school will be more than happy to help you out and may even have a few tricks and tips of their own!
