The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) is Canada’s #1 university for its size in Canada and it should be your #1 Canadian study destination. As a student-centered university with great undergraduate and graduate research opportunities, we want to make applying to UNBC as smooth as possible. Take a look at the following tips and tricks to help you with applying to UNBC.

Admissions Requirements: The first thing you need to know is that if you meet the minimum academic requirements to our range of programs, then you are admitted to UNBC. A few of our undergraduate programs are Competitive Entry Programs and require higher grades to enter. It is important to know which programs require higher grades and which do not before applying. Click here for full information on admission categories.

Language Requirements: English is the primary language of instruction and communication at UNBC. When applying to UNBC from a non-English speaking country, you must always submit evidence of English language proficiency prior to admission. If you meet the academic requirements, but do not meet the language requirements, you will be given automatic admission to study with our English Language Studies program and then start your program of study. Click here for full information on UNBC’s language requirements.

Understand Required Fees: Nobody likes paying fees, but no one enjoys having their application rejected because they did not pay the required fees. While it may seem strict, fees must be paid at the time of application and unpaid applications will not be processed. Always pay your fees for a quick admission.

Review Your Application: When you have finished your application, always have someone else review it for accuracy and to ensure you have not missed anything. One small omission can delay your entire application.
