The University of Prince Edward Island offers students a welcoming environment to learn, be challenged, and prepare them for their careers ahead. We offer co-op opportunities in our Business, Physics and Computer Science programs as well as hands on learning opportunities in our new Sustainable Design Engineering degree. This program engages directly with employers allowing students to network and gain first-hand knowledge. UPEI also offers a host of positions on campus and internships in various faculties.

For over 20 years, the province of Prince Edward Island has undergone considerable growth particularly in the knowledge-based sectors of Aerospace and Defense, Bioscience, and Information and Communication Technology. UPEI offers over 100 programs which are tailored to meet industry demands providing students with the required skillsets to enter the workforce after graduation.

Students can do up to three co-op work terms giving them a full 12 months of paid experience during their degrees. Students can work in private and public sector in a variety of fields. UPEI also offers internships in our Dietetics program and Environmental Studies. These opportunities are giving students the chance to build their networks, be mentored, gain experience, and giving them the required interpersonal skills to successfully enter the workforce after graduation.

UPEI also has a Student Employer Liaison Officer which assists students gain employment during their degree and after graduation. We assist students with their job applications, resume, interview skills, networking opportunities, and provides additional information on what opportunities may be available to them.

PEI is community-based meaning we are able to connect students to industry more easily than other jurisdictions. PEI has it all: great education programs, affordable housing, little traffic, low crime rates, friendly neighbors and a wide variety of well-paying jobs available in various sectors.
