There are some exciting life changes for which you need to prepare! You’ve accepted your offer, received your study permit and booked your flight? Great! Now let’s make a list of things you need to accomplish before you step on the plane to Canada.

  1. 1. We’ve been sending you emails for some time now, have you read them all and completed the necessary tasks? You should have followed our instructions to register for classes and new student orientation by now. If you haven’t, you should get started on that right away!

  2. 2. Register for Carleton’s Pick-Up Program! If you let us know when you’ll be arriving, we’ll be there to greet you and give you a ride to your new residence room or apartment! Register for airport pick-up here.

  3. 3. Start packing your suitcase! Make a list of things you’d like to bring to Canada with you and things you should purchase when you arrive. We’ll help arrange shopping trips when you arrive, so you can get many things when you get here. You’ll want to pack a few mementos, but things like winter clothing you can purchase after you arrive. Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of time before the cold weather arrives.

  4. 4. Make your first student connection at CarletonU! Mentors are upper year students that volunteer their time to assist international students during their transition to university life at Carleton. Registration to be paired with a mentor will open this month! E-mail isso@carleton.ca with your questions and one of our senior mentors will reply.

  5. 5. Be sure to browse the international student Arrival Information section on our website for more detailed advice and helpful videos!

  6. 6. Email us at isso@carleton.caisso@carleton.ca if you have any questions!
