Description: Economists provide essential knowledge for business leaders and policy-makers who must make decisions in the presence of challenges such as economic fluctuations, interest rate and currency volatilities, government budget deficits and economic growth sustainability. Designed to train students to use economic theory to tackle real world challenges. Built around a series of core economic theory and econometric courses, the program includes a wide range of elective courses that examine issues such as international policies, competition regulations, environmental challenges and financial analyses.

The Co-op program is aimed at academically strong students who are committed to getting practical experience in their field, work-term placements range from provincial and federal departments to companies in insurance, banking and telecommunications. Students may assist with quantitative and qualitative analyses, policy research, econometric analyses and interpretation of survey data. Entry requires an interview and a high level of academic performance. A minimum grade point average must be maintained.
