The Visual Arts Department at the University of Lethbridge is dedicated to the proposition that it is no longer necessary to go to the "centre" in order to study and make the best art possible. The Department offers intensive programs in several areas that allow students to pursue their interest in art through studio instruction, art history, theory, and museum studies. Outstanding facilities are enhanced with smaller class sizes and closer contact with instructors. Students are free to construct their own programs with varying emphasis on any medium or may combine studio work with studies in art history and curatorial practice.
As an Education major a student develops a strong knowledge base in the subject area they intend to teach. They also receive in-depth preparation in how to teach, including both general and subject area instructional methods.
