Requirements for Canadian Students
University Degree Programs: Admission to first year university in Arts (B.A.), Science (B.Sc.), Business (B.B.A.), or Tourism Management (B.T.M.) requires British Columbia Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent) with English 12 (or equivalent) along with Grade 11 or 12 prerequisite courses for specific programs (e.g. sciences). Degrees in Natural Resource Science (B.N.R.S.) and Nursing (R.N./B.S.N.) are selective admission at the first year, based on Grade 11 and 12 marks in specific courses. Admission to all other degrees is at third or fourth year and is selective based on GPA in the first two years of Arts or Science, or laddered diploma programs.
Requirements for International Students
TRU does not require TOEFL scores. Completion of the English language program allows direct entry to academic study. However, while not required, both TOEFL and IELTS scores are accepted. Students may be admitted directly to full-time academic study with a TOEFL 570 plus or an IELTS 6.5 plus. Similarly, students may be admitted directly to Level 5 of the English language program with a 550 plus TOEFL or an IELTS 6.0 plus, or to Level 4 of the English language program with a TOEFL 500 plus or an IELTS 5.5 plus. Applications will be accepted from anywhere in the world and international students can continue in academic and degree programs after completion of ESL programs.
Admission requirements vary somewhat among programs, but all TRU programs require secondary school completion for admission to college or university study. Please consult or request a copy of TRU's current academic calendar for detailed admissions requirements for each program. Students must be at least 17 years old.
