This program is designed to provide students with the theory and skills required to become a caregiver. The major focus is in providing care for people experiencing changes in their functional abilities. This program is offered full-time and, periodically, on a part-time basis. The program prepares students for employment in intermediate care facilities, extended care units, home support agencies and residential settings. Graduates will work primarily with the elderly.

Grade 12 English
Two letters of reference are required from the applicant's employer(s), regarding volunteer experience, work study, etc. (to be completed on Malaspina University-College forms). An interview with program faculty, and successful completion of the Food Safe level I Certificate, is also required. CPR “C”, completed Immunization form and Health History form (available from the Registration Centre) are required for the first day of classes. Proof of W.H.M.I.S. training is required for the first day of classes (effective September 2006).
