Art Education - Visual Arts, Specialization

School: Concordia University
Faculty: Faculty of Fine Arts
Degree: Bachelor
Field of Study: Art Teacher Education
Description: A four-year program leading to teacher certification as an elementary and secondary school art specialist, the Specialization conforms to the Quebec Ministry of Education requirements for an extended teaching practicum and preparation in visual arts, and is designed for students interested in a career as an art teacher at the elementary or secondary level in public or private schools.

Students are initially admitted to the Major in Art Education, and may apply to transfer to the Specialization upon successful completion of 60 credits in the Major in Art Education. Transfer requests are assessed based on an evaluation of the applicant's suitability for school-based teaching (grades, a letter of intent, two letters of reference, a 70-hour internship and an interview). The Department normally requires a b- average or better from students wishing to transfer to the Specialization.
