Things to Bring From Home When You Move to Canada

You probably have an idea of what will go in your suitcase - clothes, shoes, some personal items, etc. Here are some things that you might forget to pack:

1. Food

Obviously you're not going to pack the contents of your refrigerator to bring with you to Canada, but consider bringing a few small favourite items that will make you feel more at home when you get here. In Canada, we are lucky to have access to many international foods, but in case you can't find your favourite condiment or treat right away, it's always nice to have some with you when you're feeling home sick.

2. Favourite Local Products

Is there a face wash you just can't live without? Or a hair product that you use every single day? Do some research and see if it's something that is readily available in Canada. If not, pack some extra so you don't run out! It is nice to have these types of things so you don't have to switch up your routine entirely when you get here.

3. Photos

Many people have their entire lives online, or at least in digital format, but having actual printed photos is a great way to make your new room feel more like home. Bring some of your favourite photos with you to make your friends and family seem a bit less faraway.

4. Keepsakes

Your luggage is going to be limited, but find space to squeeze in a few favourite personal items. Maybe you have a gift you received as a little kid that you've kept forever, or something that belonged to your family that has been passed on to you. Whatever it is, having some things from home can help make your dorm or apartment feel like your own.
