University of Windsor: Real-World Experience

Save

At the University of Windsor, we pride ourselves on the personal touches that are included in our almost 200 degrees. Whether its small classes, friendly professors or amazing support services, we know that you will be happy with your choice to become a lancer!

Part of our unique programs, is the emphasis on real-world training and experience. We try to provide an element of experiential learning in each of our programs, and if it’s not included, we have a large amount of volunteer opportunities and number of workshops and educational resources designed to help you develop employment-readiness skills and interface successfully with the working world.

Our on-campus Co-op, Career and Employment Services (CCES) is committed to connecting students and alumni with employers to encourage career growth and foster continued success. CCES coordinates on-campus recruitment activities and works with employers that wish to hire students and alumni for part-time, full-time, summer, and contract positions.

In addition the CCES office includes a co-op division who work directly with students and employers to coordinate several distinct experiential learning programs. The co-op team evaluates, trains, and monitors skilled, qualified students in specialized programs who are available for temporary paid positions in the workforce. Co-op programs are available in Business, Engineering, Human Kinetics, Physics and Computer Science.

If co-op isn’t a part of your chosen degree, perhaps you will experience a field placement (social work, environmental studies, etc), a clinical placement (nursing) or a research opportunity (various science and social science degrees).

CCES also offers the unique Volunteer Internship Program (VIP), which works with the Windsor-Essex not-for-profit sector to forge mutually beneficial relationships between students and community organizations. The VIP team evaluates and trains enterprising University of Windsor student volunteers and connects them with part-time volunteer placements at appropriate not-for-profit and publicly funded organizations.
