Working part-time or full-time is a great way to curb the cost of going to university. At Algoma University, we have a variety of full-time, part-time, internships, and co-operative educational opportunities that can help you alleviate the cost of university and help you gain valuable work experience in your area of study. Such positions give you the experience necessary to obtain a meaningful job after your degree!

Co-operative education is designed to integrate undergraduate academic studies with paid work experience. After successfully completing the Career Skills Course, which prepares students for the job search process by helping with resume and cover letter writing, interview taking, and business etiquette, students can be placed in a co-op position. Algoma University students have done co-op placements with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR), the Ontario Power Generation, and many more. Placements are available for both Canadian and international students, and students are paid between $12-20 an hour. Plus, placements are not limited to Sault Ste. Marie – students can work in the city or elsewhere in the province of Ontario.

Algoma University also hosts online career fairs throughout the year, compiling information regarding job opportunities available to students, making it quick and easy for students to find employment. The career fair functions as a one-stop shop for students looking for full-time, part-time, and summer employment! Opportunities are available in Sault Ste. Marie and across Canada, with positions with airlines, hotels, real estate agencies, governmental agencies, banks, hospitals, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
