Navigating Waterloo's Admissions Process

Your search has begun! Exploring your many post-secondary options can be scary and intimidating, but it is also an exciting time full of anticipation. Here are a few tips to help you navigate Waterloo’s admissions process.

Waterloo’s programs page has a useful search feature that allows you to search for specific keywords to help you find the perfect program for you!

Take time to review the admission requirements for your program that are specific to your own unique situation (country, study system, level of study, etc.).

You can apply to Waterloo through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). The OUAC will send us your application information and we will then email you with the next steps in the admissions process.

If your first language is not English and your last four years of education have not been taught entirely in English, you will probably be required to submit an English language test score. Don’t worry though! There are many different tests that you can take and they are offered throughout the year. Don’t leave it too late, though; it is required for admission and can take up to 6 weeks for Waterloo to receive the results.

The Admission Information Form (AIF) helps us get to know you better. It is a chance for you to demonstrate your strengths and showcase all of your amazing accomplishments. You can describe your involvement in sports, clubs, competitions, music, work, leadership, volunteering, and more. Feel free to brag a little; the goal is to demonstrate how awesome a candidate you are!

You will receive an email from Waterloo asking you to complete the AIF once you have applied. While the form is required for some programs, it is recommended for all programs and will only help your application.
