When you’re pursuing higher education at a post-secondary institution, excelling in your studies should be your primary focus. But it shouldn’t be your ONLY focus.

At Algonquin College in Ottawa, we encourage international students to get involved in campus life and experience everything the college has to offer. We have an active students’ association that organizes many popular events throughout the year, such as musical performances and theatre, and there are many active student clubs on campus as well, catering to different hobbies, interests, religions and spiritual beliefs.

There are also a number of international student clubs, allowing you to meet other students from your home country or other areas of the world. You’ll also be able to make friends through our International Education Centre, which is dedicated to helping you thrive in your studies and your personal life during your time in Ottawa.

Do you enjoy sports? Cheer on our varsity-level soccer, basketball, and volleyball teams, join one of our recreational sports leagues, or visit our state-of-the-art fitness facility to stay in shape and meet other students.

Off campus, you’ll want to experience what the city of Ottawa has to offer as well. Canada’s capital is famous for its world-class museums, historical buildings, exciting nightlife, and outdoor recreation opportunities, including skating or sailing on the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Ottawa also boasts more than 60 festivals and celebrations throughout the year, so you’ll never be lacking for something fun to do.

As long as you keep up with your studies, we encourage you to make the most of your time here in Ottawa – and create unforgettable memories you’ll cherish forever.
