Description:The Department of English Studies is one of Nipissing University’s largest programs with over 200 majors in upper-year courses. In our engagement with texts of all kinds, the English Studies program aims to capture the energy of the “here and now” while making links between present and past, distant and close. Our young and dynamic faculty are committed to the Department’s mission to foster the production of knowledge and critical inquiry in a collaborative learning environment based on interactive classes and seminars. Students can select courses from three groups: Literary History and Genre Studies, Cultural and Media Studies, and Rhetoric and Language Studies.

In the Combined Major program, students must complete 90 credits including a minimum of 30 credits in English and a minimum of 30 credits in another discipline. The second major must include all of the required courses specified for that discipline.
