|Description:||If you're passionate about environmental issues, then Environment and Resource Studies is a great place for you! As one of the most flexible programs at Waterloo, Environment and Resource Studies provides a strong understanding of environmental issues and the tools needed to resolve them. You can easily customize your degree to study a broad range of topics or focus on a specific area of expertise with specializations or double majors in areas such as Biology, Political Science, and Peace and Conflict Studies.
In the regular stream of study you'll focus on your courses for eight months of the year and have your summers off. Students commonly take part in research projects, internships or take additional courses during their free summer term. Choose co-op to gain valuable work experience through the world's largest co-op program. You'll alternate 4-month school terms with paid co-op work terms, graduate with 2 years of work experience, earn money, and try different career areas even before you graduate. Case studies, field trips, and community projects give you hands-on experience with current issues. In your final year, work one-on-one with a professor on a research project of your choice. With just 78 first-year students, this program gives you the opportunity to study in a personal and friendly community.
