DescriptionCentennial’s unique Journalism (Fast-Track) program is an accelerated offering designed for university and college graduates seeking practical, multiplatform training for careers in media and communications. With your previous education, you will enter directly into the third year of the six semester journalism program and begin learning first-hand how to report, research and examine issues of our times using a wide range of contemporary media. You will hone your writing skills while exploring a variety of storytelling methods and tools to prepare you to cover everything from breaking news to in-depth features in digital, print and broadcast formats.

In this program at Centennial’s School of Communications, Media and Design you will: Learn to write, produce and share stories in an energetic, dynamic and hands-on environment, led by a faculty of seasoned professionals and educators; Develop a portfolio of broadcast work and published stories and photos as you apply your skills in a real newsroom, producing an online publication, an award-winning community newspaper, a magazine and radio-television news; Develop new multiplatform, digital and social media skills for the evolving world of news reporting and sharing; Travel seamlessly from the classroom to the newsroom during an exciting, 15-week field placement in the final semester of the program. Upon graduation, you will be prepared to launch a fast-paced, exciting career on the front lines of the day’s events, ready to capture and share the stories of the people affected. Please note: This program requires students to have and use a mobile computing device (i.e. laptop, tablet) that meets or exceeds the recommended hardware requirements. Detailed requirements will be emailed to new students prior to program registration.
