Some students may qualify to earn additional credit through Prior Learning Assessment. Students requiring assessment must contact the Access Education department for an appointment.

Description | The Education Assistant (formerly Teaching Assistant) program is a one-year certificate specializing in Child, Youth, and Family Studies (CYFS). The program (available online and/or in the classroom) offers a variety of learning activities including in class and online lectures, group discussions, individual and group assignments, seminars, and school based practicum placements. College of the Rockies' Education Assistant (EA) program provides the knowledge and skill development needed to assist the classroom teacher in inclusive educational settings with children and youth who have diverse learning needs. It combines theory and practical application for elementary and secondary age students in the B.C. K-12 school system.
As an EA student, you will be introduced to various learning styles and adaptations required in assisting learners with special needs to reach their full educational potential. You will be prepared to reinforce student learning and support developmental and behavioral tasks. | | |
