| Prerequisites Notes | Applicants must have a high school diploma, or equivalent. Minimum of Grad 10 math is required. Prior volunteer experience in a school setting is recommended. Accepted applicants are required to provide an up-to-date immunization record. A criminal reference check will be required by field placement centres and registered students who have been convicted of an offence under the Criminal Code for which they have not been pardoned may be denied the opportunity to enter field placement. First Aid/CPR certification course is mandatory for placement, available through Continuing Education. | | |

| Description | As an Educational Assistant student, you will obtain the knowledge, skills, and aptitudes required to work with and support children during their educational experiences. You will learn to become an integral team member along with teachers and other school staff by providing primary support to children with exceptionalities. The theoretical learning in the classroom and field placement throughout the course of the program prepare you for the real world.
Educational assistants generally work in school boards, private schools, and community facilities offering special education. | | |
