Prerequisites NotesIt is strongly recommended that students enter the program with: Grade 12 with at least a C standing in Applications of Math 11; a minimum of C+ in English 11, or ABE Advanced Level Certificate or GED Certificate with a C+ in English 80 or individual assessment to acceptable level. Students who require some Grade 11 and/or Grade 12 credits can commence studies in Office Administration & Technology while completing high school courses through Access Education. Under the East Kootenay Partnership Agreements, high school students may register in OFAD upon presentation of a Letter of Permission from their high school principal. Students should recognize that many employers require a Grade 12 graduation along with Office Administration & Technology credentials for initial hire and for internal promotion. Keyboarding skills are a definite asset. OSD certificates require an exit keyboarding speed of 30 WPM. OFAD 155 Keyboarding 1 is available to those students who need to develop keyboarding skills.

DescriptionThis training contains a mix of OFAD credit courses, new OSD courses, face-to-face learning, online delivery, and on-the-job work experience. Upon successful completion, direct credit is recognized for four Office Administration & Technology Program courses, and advanced placement in OFAD training is recognized for three of the remaining seven courses, thereby offering a student faster advancement through an OFAD certificate.

This OSD certificate training is intended to develop employment related skills for entry-level front desk or file clerk positions. It is also designed to assist individuals in making informed career choices by providing credits towards higher level certificates and by developing a comfort zone in online learning.
