Profile

The Adler School works with those courageous enough to want to change the world. We are founded on an important idea: Our health resides in community life and connections. This is what drives our ground-breaking curricula and commitment to leading social change, and what drives our graduates to impact local, national, and global communities. As an independent nonprofit institution of higher learning, we have a rich history that has produced master’s and doctoral programs that are based on a scholar/practitioner education model and prepare students as leaders and socially responsible practitioners for today’s world. We offer: • Degrees for socially responsible careers in counselling, organizational psychology, art therapy and clinical psychology—including western Canada’s first Psy.D. program • A diverse faculty of scholar-practitioners and mentors • Immersive coursework, practical training, and real-world experience before graduation • Our downtown Vancouver location offers a wide range of options for students to gain first-hand experience in practicum and clinical placements with organizations that partner with the Adler School.

Incoming Students

Our campus location also offers a wide range of options for students’ community service and professional practicums with public, not-for-profit, and business organizations that partner with the Adler School. Our state-of-the-art facility was designed to foster immersion learning and provides a blend of high-tech classrooms with social, study, and community work spaces. Our library provides extensive resources and services to students. Through the library, students have access to the ever-growing online database, full-text electronic journals, electronic books, and full-text collections of newspapers. Students also benefit from clinical practice rooms, enabling students to practice their counselling skills with fellow students in videotaped sessions. These sessions can then be evaluated by faculty, who will provide feedback. To learn more about securing housing options near our Vancouver campus, please contact vanadmissions@adler.edu.

Career Planning

We offer an array of career services as part of an ongoing process to lead students to greater self awareness of their career potentials and goals. Starting with a conversation focused on individuals' skills, talents, and values, we assist students and alumni with the process of identifying career interests, and then taking proactive and effective steps towards reaching those goals, leading to fulfilling employment. Our Web site offers online career development tools as well as numerous links.
