An in-depth study of our cultural past through images cultivates an understanding of the unity and diversity of humanity. In Art History, visual acuity is developed with critical discourse. The breadth of the program spans Greek art to contemporary Canadian art. The interaction of past and present is stressed. The interdisciplinary character of Art History brings together the insights of other humanities and the sciences and links to contemporary studio practice.
Graduates of the program may find career opportunities as art historian, art critic, teacher, gallery and museum curator, archivist, restoration professional, and arts administrator.
