| Description: |
This area of concentration provides students with the opportunity to study the relationships between states, the impulses and avenues used for international cooperation, as well as the reasons for and complexity of conflict in the international arena. Both cooperation and conflict in the international arena, of course, is not necessarily limited to states, and courses in this stream examine these two issues at a variety of levels. A large number of Political Studies courses are included in the required and recommended lists for this stream, but the stream also includes numerous courses in History and Economics which deal with both cooperation and conflict in the international arena. Courses in Sociology and Anthropology which focus on ethnic relations and conflict are also important elements of the stream.
Students interested in entering an Honours program should consult advisors in the department concerned before registering for their second year. Please see the program webpage for curriculum details.
