Mathematics contributes to the formulation and solution of problems in diverse fields such as Medicine, Economics and the Social Sciences in addition to being the foundation of the field of Computer Science and the "language" of Science and Engineering. A degree in Mathematics is a solid foundation for continued education in many fields. The traditional sciences, such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology have an ever-growing mathematical and statistical content. The study of Mathematics develops a capacity for logical reasoning and efficient problem solving.
