Description: Camosun College’s 10 month long, full-time Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic program will give you the skills and theory you’ll need to enter the trade. You’ll be trained to become proficient in the service and maintenance of on- and off-highway vehicles, with special emphasis on electrical and hydraulic systems, air and hydraulic brakes, power trains and engine systems. Through this pre-employment program, you’ll be given three weeks of work experience, and you’ll acquire certificates in Heavy Duty Mechanics and Commercial Transport Mechanics.

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be awarded a Certificate in Heavy Duty Mechanic Foundation and a Certificate in Commercial Transport Mechanic Foundation. In addition, you may be eligible for credit towards an apprenticeship program.

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 11 English
  • Grade 11 Mathematics or Grade 11 Applied Mathematics
  • Applicants must submit proof of a letter grade of “C” or higher in English 11 or assessment, proof of a letter grade of “C” or higher in Mathematics 11 or Applications of Mathematics 11 or MATH 038 or assessment or successful completion of Trades Assessment Test.
