This two-year Ontario College Diploma program is designed to train students to become fully qualified executive assistants able to work in any administrative field including select legal environments, such as intellectual property.
The program is divided into four levels. The first two levels are the Office Administration - General, Ontario College Certificate program (0210X). Levels 03 and 04 provide students with extensive knowledge and skills in the formatting and preparation of office documentation, an understanding of Canadian business and legal concepts and an opportunity to apply executive office procedures. Emphasis is placed on the practical demands of the job: organizing activities, preparing professional documents, interacting with the workforce, meeting deadlines, working under pressure, accepting responsibility and demonstrating initiative. Students participate in simulations of office environments dealing with realistic problems and solutions. Students develop high-level word processing, presentation, Internet, email, project management, spreadsheet and database skills in a network environment.
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
