French is an official language of Canada, and of numerous other countries around the world. The French Studies program at Acadia offers a range of courses in French language, French culture, translation, as well as the literatures of France, Québec and Acadie, French-speaking Africa, and the Caribbean. Students who major in French achieve proficiency in the written and spoken language as well as an appreciation of the culture of the Francophone world. Students may spend their third year in a French-speaking university in Québec or abroad. Acadia participates in exchange study programs in Dijon and Nancy, France.
