Description: This 15-week Ontario College Certificate program offers the highest level of professional five-star service training for bartenders entering the food and beverage
service sector in the hospitality industry. There is a constant demand by licensed establishments for qualified and professional bartenders in the province of Ontario.

The program consists of regular in-class and hybrid instruction in the principles and practices of sound bar management. The curriculum is divided between theory and hands-on experience in the Algonquin Campus bar laboratory and an established bar, restaurant or nightclub within the Ottawa community. The program offers an opportunity to complete the external Smart Serve program accreditation that is mandatory for the service of alcohol in licensed establishments in Ontario.

Admission Requirements
Prerequisites:

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent. Applicants with an OSSD showing senior English and/or mathematics courses at the Basic Level,
or with Workplace or Open courses, will be tested to determine their eligibility for admission; OR Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) certificate; OR General Educational Development (GED) certificate; OR Mature Student status (19 years of age or older and without a high school diploma at the start of the program). Eligibility may be determined by academic achievement testing for which a fee of $40 (subject to change) will be charged.

Applicants must be 19 years of age or older prior to start of classes to be eligible to enter this program.
