Description:
This program will allow students with previous postsecondary education to fast track through the Child and Youth Worker Advanced Diploma, without compromising the educational requirements of the child and youth worker field. It is anticipated that course completion will require sixteen continuous months of study. Intake will be in September of every year, with graduation projected for December of the following academic year.
Academic - All applicants must have completed a two-year college diploma or a minimum of two successful years of university study; Attendance at an information/interview session, which includes: written documentation of at least 80 hours of paid or volunteer work with children or adolescents in a treatment agency, co-op program, school, day care, summer camp, coaching sports teams, or in a group home. Babysitting experience is not eligible. This work experience must be completed and submitted when the applicant attends the required orientation session. Please note that preference will be given to candidates with more than 80 hours of work in a related setting; Completion of a written questionnaire; Medical certificate of health, to ensure freedom from communicable diseases; Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR.
