| Description: |
It's been said that studying English provides you with 'equipment for living.' Certainly English requires students to read, listen and reflect critically, but it also provides links to the broader world by reflecting and challenging social, political and cultural beliefs and practices. Dalhousie's English courses cover the gamut, from Jane Austen to Paul Auster, Dylan Thomas to Bob Dylan, King Lear to King Kong. You'll focus on the literature of England, Canada, the United States and other parts of the English-speaking world, from the 8th to 21st centuries, along with translated works from other countries.
