Law Firm Profile - Office Administration

School: Humber College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning
Faculty: Humber North Campus / The Business School
Degree: Certificate
Field of Study: Legal Administrative Assistant/Secretary
Description: The classroom component of this program provides you with theoretical knowledge of legal practice and procedures in different areas of law along with practical, hands-on applications, while Humber's partnership with a consortium of prominent national and international law firms adds real-world depth to your studies. The firms facilitate learning through guest speakers, panel discussions and field trips, as well as providing internship opportunities.

Students also receive plenty of practical, hands-on training with specialized legal software programs, such as Teraview, PCLaw, and Quicklaw. Students learn to co-ordinate and manage the following responsibilities: ensuring compliance with statutory limitations, procedural practices, and filing/registering provisions; drafting and preparing legal documents, instruments, and accounts; and liaising with clients, lawyers, and government and court officials in the execution of legal matters.
