COTR Cranbrook offers the entire Provincial Cook Training program and the Apprenticeship program in a fully-equipped training kitchen, classroom area, and formal dining room.
Upon successful completion of Term 1 students will receive a Professional Cook Training Level 1 Certificate. Upon Completion of Term 2 students will recieve a Professional Cook Training Level 2 Certificate. Only those students that choose to continue and complete term 3 will be eligible to recieve a Culinary Arts-Professional Cooking Certificate. Students finishing the 44-week program who wish to continue their future in cooking by pursuing an apprenticeship, will be credited with year 1 apprenticeship Technical training.
Valid Foodsafe Level 1 Certificate must be provided at registration and prior to the start of class. Grade 10 (Grade 12 preferred). Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English. Foodsafe courses are availabe through continuing education.
All regional applicants will meet with the chef instructor for a short interview; all non-regional applicants must contact the program coordinator for a short telephone interview.
A recent health certificate and negative TB skin test or chest X-ray to be arranged after acceptance into the program, but prior to the first day of class.
