Description:
The two-semester Practical Nursing Access for Resident Care Attendants (PNARCAC) program is offered over 36 weeks, and has been designed to allow you to apply your prior education, training and work experience toward a certification as a Practical Nurse. Through a combination of foundational academic classes and practical work experiences, you’ll acquire the additional skills, knowledge and values you’ll need to give professional nursing care to individuals, families and groups in a variety of settings. Upon graduation, you’ll be prepared to nurse using Professional Standards of Practice and competencies established by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The Practical Nursing Access program bridges you into a more advanced level of employment in the health care field.

Grade 12 English
Grade 12 Biology
Principles of Mathematics or Foundations for College Mathematics (MAP4C) or Precalculus
Applicants must submit proof of grade 12 graduation or equivalent and proof of a letter grade of “C+” or higher in English 12, or EFP 12, or TPC 12; or ENGL 092 & ENGL 094; or ENGL 092 & ENGL 096; or ENGL 140; or ELD 092 & ELD 094; or ELD 097; or assessment; and proof of a letter grade of “C+” or higher in in Principles of Math 10, or Foundations of Math & Precalculus 10, or MATH 034 or assessment; and proof of a letter grade of “C+” or higher in Biology 12 or BIOL 080 or BIOL 100. Applicants also must submit proof of a Health Care Assistant or Resident Care Attendant certificate from a British Columbia public college* **; and proof (such as an employer letter of reference) of 850 hours of satisfactory RCA/HCA work experience within the last five years.
