| Description: |
This unique program gives you a good grasp of how important decisions are made in today's society at the international, national, provincial, and local level by both governmental and non-governmental organizations. You'll also learn how the three sectors (private, public, and non-profit) are organized and how they work both independently and interdependently sometimes in cooperation and sometimes in conflict. You'll learn how social, environmental, economic, political, and justice issues are accommodated in Canada and on a global scale. You'll discuss the value of good governance, what it means and how social justice, democracy, citizenship, and human rights fit or not into the equation. And you'll explore new ways of delivering services once provided by government such as through the non-profit and voluntary sector.
Through a range of courses in all four years, you'll also develop some essential skills including how to think critically, how to communicate effectively, and how to do research.
