| Description: |
Psychology is the scientific study of behaviour andmental processes, which includes both lab-based and community-based research. In the mental health domain, psychologist practitioners apply knowledge to individual and societal problems. First-year courses survey a variety of psychological concepts while the second year builds upon these basic themes. In the third and fourth year, students examine more specific topics and are able to conduct research related to individual interests under faculty supervision. An undergraduate degree in Psychology may ultimately lead to employment in the helping professions, the service sector and management. Recent graduates have gone into graduate or professional studies in clinical and counseling psychology, law, medicine, education, university-based psychological research, speech language pathology, and human resource management.
