Acadia's program is designed to give students a strong foundation in basic biology and then encourages them to pursue specialized course work or an honours thesis. Dozens of courses are offered, from the fundamental to the most specialized and unusual, offered to capture the interests of the inquisitive mind. Courses include basics such as Molecular and Cellular Foundations, Biodiversity, Histology, and Plant and Vertebrae Diversity. Human ecology basics are also compelling, with such courses as Human Biology and Genetics, Anatomy, and Physiology. Students have many opportunities to apply the theory they learn in class in field studies at Acadia's several research stations. Biology graduates are employed in a wide range of careers from agriculture and aquaculture to biodiversity to biotechnology and health care.
