Animation - Advanced

School: Loyalist College
Faculty: School of Media Studies
Degree: Diploma
Field of Study: Animation, Interactive Tech., Video Graphics and Special Effects
Description: In the rapidly changing marketplace, there is an increasing demand for animators with new media skills. Students with either an artistic or technical background excel in the program. The program begins with a foundation year that provides the opportunity for students to strengthen their skills in each area. In the second year, students have the opportunity to begin specializing in areas, such as web production, gaming, or animation for entertainment. Students who meet specific requirements can tailor the program to their area of specialization through independent production courses in their final year.

Graduates are prepared for employment in video gaming content creation; 2D/3D computer animation; scientific, architectural, and industrial visualization; web design; CGI graphic art/illustration; and CD-ROM/DVD content creation and programming. Two internships provide valuable on-the-job experience before graduation. Students leave the program with job search skills and an impressive portfolio of their work.
