Paleontology is the science concerned with the evolutionary history of life. Students are required to have a broad knowledge base of biological and geological subjects. Areas of detailed knowledge will include verebrate and invertebrate paleobiology, evolutionary biology, systematics, functional morphology, sedimentology, stratigraphy, and plate tectonics. Paleontologists usually hold advanced research degrees and work as research scientists and teachers in universities, museums, and industrial laboratories.
