Do you enjoy thinking about and discussing ideas such as the meaning of life, the values at the basis of our society, or the nature of mind and matter? Are you interested in what the great thinkers have to say about human potential and our highest ideals? Courses in philosophy challenge our thinking and provide the occasion to clarify our ideas and to communicate effectively.
The Honours program is a solid base for students who wish to go on to graduate school in philosophy or to pursue a degree in law, administration or public service. It constitutes a thorough and rigorous training in the basic areas of philosophy (ethics, logic, theory of knowledge, the nature of mind and matter) as viewed from several traditions: ancient Greek, modern and contemporary writings from British, North American, Australian and European styles of thinking.
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
