The Department of Music History offers courses in European and North American art and popular music for students within and outside the Faculty of Music. At Western, music is studied in its wider cultural context, and students are encouraged to broaden their horizons through courses designed to develop a sense of critical enquiry.
The Department is staffed by distinguished scholars, who are widely published and dedicated teachers. Both research and teaching are supported by one of the finest music libraries on the continent and by an exceptional collection of copies of period instruments from the Baroque and Classical eras.
These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
