| Description: |
There is more to art history than most students think. Once it was mostly a chronological Europe-centred study of painting, sculpture, and architecture from ancient times to modern. Contemporary art history still provides plenty of opportunities to study the Parthenon, Michelangelo and Rembrandt, but there is a great new diversity, both of art and of perspectives. Investigate major examples of world art and of the histories and theories that have been used to explain them. View works of art directly by visits to galleries and museums and indirectly by use of videos, films and slides.
The Co-operative Program in Art History allows students to identify and consider relationships between academic and work environments, and combine their degree with work experience that draws upon the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies. Co-op Art History is offered as a Major Program.
