Applied Microbiology

Description: Explore the cellular and sub-cellular mechanisms underlying organismal processes in a variety of sectors including the food production, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Learn the theory of the biology of bacteria, viruses, protozoans, algae and fungi. Gain the technical skills as used in the industrial laboratory and field work. Complete projects and research that involve preparation, testing and evaluation of commonly used products, genetic manipulation, quality assurance and quality control.

Applied Microbiology is offered as a specialist program. Applied Microbiology is not direct entry from high school, a minimum of one year post-secondary studies is required. Interested students must apply to Biological Sciences and then apply for the Applied Microbiology program at the completion of their first year of studies.

In this unique program students will earn a four-year Honours B.Sc. from UofT Scarborough and a Biotechnology/Industrial Microbiology Diploma from Centennial College of Applied Arts & Technology.

Grade for Entrance Previous Year (%)*: 75 to 80

  •  Chemistry

Get the SAF as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to complete and submit the form.
