Music School: University of Alberta Faculty: Faculty of Arts Degree: Bachelor ; Honours Field of Study: Music, General Description: This is a four year program with a concentration in music, designed for students considering graduate study in music history, theory, ethnomusicology, or cultural studies, or for students who wish to study music and its place in culture in the context of a liberal arts program. The program allows students to study art, folk, and popular music traditions, emphasizing academic work rather than performance. Grade 12 English Four subjects are required from Biology 30, Chemistry 30, a Fine Arts Subject (only one Fine Arts subject may be presented for admission), Pure Mathematics 30, Mathematics 31, Physics 30, Science 30, Social Studies 30 or 30-1, 30-level language other than English. Admission in the first year is also dependent upon a high matriculation average. Successful completion of aural skills and theory placement tests is required prior to admission. Admission to subsequent years requires a GPA of 3.0 with an average of 3.3 in music courses.
