Mental Health Studies (B.Sc)

School: University of Toronto - Scarborough
Faculty: Psychology
Degree: Bachelor ; Co-op ; Honours
Field of Study: Mental and Social Health Services and Allied Professions, Other
Psychology, General
Description: Mental Health Studies focuses on abnormal psychological processes and is intended for students with a strong interest in pathologies of the mind and in their treatment. Co-op Mental Health Studies is offered as a Specialist or Major Program.

The Program combines academic studies in the field of mental health with practical work experience. The work experience provided by the program enables students to explore career opportunities relevant to their studies in mental health. Completion of the program does not, however, represent a professional qualification in psychology, which requires further study at the graduate level. Work settings may also provide students with the opportunity to observe and assist psychologists engaged in clinical practice, hence providing a broader and more informed basis for the selection of a post graduate program appropriate to the student's talents and interests. Some work settings may provide the opportunity for clinical engagement under close supervision.
