Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences, General
Description:
The Bachelor of Allied Health Sciences (BAHSc) program offers health professionals a unique opportunity to expand their previous education in a flexible and research-intensive environment.
Recognizing the need for highly trained specialists to address the changing demographic and health-service needs of the province; UOIT, in collaboration with Durham College, Georgian College and the Michener Institute, developed the program to allow students to move seamlessly between post-secondary institutions. The program, structured to support Health Force Ontario's 2007 document titled Interprofessional Care: A blueprint for Action Ontario healthforceontario.ca, will provide students who have previously obtained diplomas from accredited educational institutions in dental hygiene, medical laboratory science, massage therapy, nursing, opticianry and paramedicine with up to 57 advanced credits (19 courses) towards their 120 credit hour (40 courses) honours BAHSc degree.
Students seeking admission to the BAHSc must be graduates from one of the approved health professional programs, from an Ontario college, with an overall B average or better. Applicants must hold a current license to practice from the relevant licensing body.
