"Pure" mathematics can be described as any mathematical activity that is performed without explicit or immediate consideration of direct application. The problem is studied for its own interest in the knowledge that the more deeply the subject is developed the better the applications will be later. In pure mathematics, you will have an opportunity to see how centuries of widely varying applications have led to a number of abstract theories.
