Admissions

Requirements for International Students
For general undergraduate admission, you need to have completed an acceptable high school program with the following senior-level high school courses:
- English
- Mathematics*
- Laboratory Science*
- A modern language, classical language or social science
- One other subject area (i.e. an Elective)

An overall average equivalent to 70% is required for general admission. Admission to some programs is competitive for a limited number of spaces. A higher admission average and/or supplementary information may be required as part of the faculty-specific admissions.

* one of either the mathematics or laboratory science course requirements may be waived for admission to programs where the subject is not included among the requirements for the program to which the student has applied for admission. If you are missing both courses, please contact the Registrar's Office for more information.

If English has not been the language of instruction throughout your last three years of study, you will need to provide proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The minimum TOEFL score required for admission is 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based). A minimum score of 79 with at least 20 in each of Reading and Writing, and no less than 17 in Listening and Speaking is required on the internet-based TOEFL.

Other forms of English proficiency are also acceptable as noted in the University calendar. If you need help in meeting those requirements, you may want to enrol in one of our five week or 12 week programs to learn English as a Second Language.

You will also need a study permit to enter the country. Please see the Canadian embassy or consulate nearest you for study permit and visa requirements.
