Requirements for Canadian Students For Regular Academic Admission: British Columbia Grade 12 or equivalent; completion of Adult Basic Education program; or completion of GED (General Education Development Testing program). Dean's admission is granted to students who are 19 years or older on the basis of background, previous education, and general suitability for direct entry into college level studies.

The standard academic entrance requirement to Langara is completion of 12 years of formal study and graduation from secondary school. In addition, international students must provide proof of English language proficiency. A TOEFL score of 550 paper based, 213 computer based, iBT score of 80 (minimum Reading 20, Writing 20, Speaking 18, and Listening 18) or a score of 6.5 on the IELTS is required for direct entry to the College.
In addition, career programs require a LET (Langara English Test) Level 3 or LPI (Language Proficiency Index) Level 4 with a minimum of 24 on the essay question. Some career programs require supplements specific to a particular program.
Another way to gain access to Langara's post-secondary courses is successful completion of Level 8 of LEAP (Langara English for Academic Purposes). A TOEFL score of 480 paper based, 160 computer based, iBT 55 or a score of 5 on the IELTS, or a score of 580 on the TOEIC is required for admission to the first level of LEAP (Level 3).
If you would like to improve your basic ESL skills in order to enter LEAP, you can apply for our summer ESL travel/study programs in July and August or join a short term ESL program beginning each month.

Procedure for Canadian Students Complete an application for admission form and submit it to the Registrar's Office with a $40.00 non-refundable application fee, official transcripts, and program specific requirements as noted in the calendar. New applications are accepted from February 1 to October 31 for the following spring (January to April) semester, June 1 to February 28 for the following summer (May to August) semester, and October 1 to June 30 for the following fall (September to December) semester. Applications received after these dates will be considered on a space available basis.

Procedure for International Students International students meeting Langara's academic and English language admission requirements need to complete the Langara College application form or the online application form. If you meet the academic requirements, but cannot prove your English language ability or are below the requirement listed above, you must apply to Langara using the LEAP application form. For both programs, you must submit the correct application form, your official secondary school transcripts showing 12 years of schooling, official proof of secondary school graduation, and TOEFL or IELTS results, if the originals are in a language other than English, official English translations of transcripts and graduation certificates, plus a $150.00 non-refundable application fee. The forms, documents, and application fee should be submitted together and as early as possible.

With your study permit in your hand, you can apply two weeks before the beginning of the month in which you want to start. 3. To apply for a study permit, you must allow one month to process your STEP application and one to six months to obtain your study permit. |
