Notes
Private rooms with shared bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry facilities are available in two person same sex apartments and larger four person co-ed apartments. Beach volleyball and basketball courts, as well as games and activity rooms are also available.

Notes
Three meals per day are provided in homestays. Peerstays, in which students live with a family, but buy their own food and prepare their own meals, are also available.

Incoming Students
A one week orientation is held for international students before the start of classes.

Facilities include new library, new student residences, new school of management, fitness centre, gymnasium, computer labs, language labs, wireless available, and two cafeterias.

Career Planning
Academic and program advisors are available. Support for employment and career advice is available. On-campus work is available for international students.

Notes
All students are welcome to join the intramural sports and to try out for the varsity teams. Some scholarships available for gifted international athletes.

Associations and clubs include the Alumni Association, Anthropology Club, Business Students' Association, Child and Youth Care Club, DaVinci Club, Fair Trade Club, Film Society, Global Studies Association, Institute of Practical Philosophy Foundation, International Students' Association, English Students' Association, Milner Gardens and Woodland Club, Model United Nations, Navigator student newspaper, Popular Participation Movement, Rights and Democracy Club, Campus Radio Station, and VIU Student Union.

Information Technology
Wireless Internet access is available at campus drop in computer labs and is included in some residences. Video editing and printing rooms are available in student access labs and student e-mail accounts are available to all.

Cultural
Internationa Centre, Theatre, Natural History Museum, Art Gallery, Japanese Gardens and Milner Gardens and Woodland.

Special Services
Vancouver Island University provides educational opportunities for non-traditional learners and students with disabilities. The campus is almost fully wheelchair accessible. Student support includes learning and research assistance, exam accommodation, note takers, scribes, student tutors, readers, talking books, interpreters, and specialized technical aids and equipment.

Affiliated Institutions
Vancouver Island University offers an International Masters in Business Administration and a Masters in Business Administration in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield, England.

International Involvement
Vancouver Island University features programs in ESL, academic, career, and technical fields. The University has hosted students from Hong Kong, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Mexico, Dominica, Africa, Finland, Ireland, and the United States.

Other international activities include individualized training programs for students on exchange contracts through CIDA or ACCC, Japanese contracts, summer language institute programs, and placement of instructors in countries throughout the world on short or long term training assignments. Services for international students include International Student Advisors and a Homestay program. Coordinators for the Homestay program provide students with information on Vancouver Island University's programs, community support services, orientation, accommodation, recreation and social opportunities, securing banking, medical and dental services, etc.

Campus Tours
Campus tours are held every Friday at 10:30 a.m. between April 1 and September 30. Tours leave from the lobby of Building 300 and end at 12 noon. Tours also available by appointment study@viu.ca
