Cultural
Winnipeg itself offers wonderful advantages for an international student. Most important is that Winnipeg is a small, multicultural city of approximately 800,000 people. Consequently, Winnipeg experiences fewer of the large city problems, being more secure and easier for international students visit. At the same time, Winnipeg's size enables the school to provide a remarkable variety of cultural events (Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Theatre Centre, etc.). Extensive social and sporting activities are also available to students. Balmoral Hall offers a music/drama centre, Performing Arts Centre (200 seat theatre), private music rooms, a dining hall, a senior school student common room with a fireplace, and the residence houses spacious facilities for home skills, design art, and photography.
Emphasis is placed on providing students with a well rounded Canadian experience. Parents of day girls are encouraged to have a house guest for a weekend, school breaks, or holidays. Trips to other major cities are also planned for international students to provide a horizon broadening experience. In the past, destinations have included Edmonton, Toronto, and Minneapolis.
